this, ladies and gentlemen, is the reason i was publicly
announcing my love for tom binns [a los angeles-based jewelry
designer] the other day.  basically, i've been a loyal obsessive
fan of tom binns design ever since spotting one of their
necklaces over the summer.  and my avid following led me to
discover, participate in, and eventually win [!] one of their
giveaway contests.

now i am fortunate enough to rock this dime piece of jewelry on a
regular basis.  i feel honored to be able to wear a work of art
around my neck whenever i want... wherever i want... with
whatever i of charge.

thank you, tom binns & the tom binns design team.  you made a
fellow artist very, very happy today!

after this weekend, it seems that i may have retired my night
owlish ways and become an early bird.  my circadian rhythm
adjusted slightly, allowing me to conquer daytime activities with
ease and enthusiasm.  sunday was filled with adventures,
starting with a pleasant brunch with my friends sam and bruce
[and "pancake man," as i like to call him].

after brunch, bruce and i hiked over to brooklyn to visit fellow
uw alum and nyc artist, chelsea at her awesome shared studio
space in 3rdward.

then we decided we wanted chocolate...but not just any chocolate
we wanted gourmet, expensive, imported chocolate.  so we headed
over to mast brothers for some a lot of free samples and a few
delicious ginger-chocolate cookies.

basically, i took a ton of pictures [extras here], met some cool
new people, saw cool art spaces, ate delicious food, and am
officially loving this early bird lifestyle.

i don't use the "l" word generously... especially when it comes
to boys.  but right now i'm in love with mr. tom binns, and i'm
not reluctant to profess it.  seriously, tom... i love you
what's in the box [and the story behind it] will be at your
fingertips shortly!

things i don't want to do: leave my bed.
things i have to do: leave my bed.

this will be a challenge considering i avoided buying snow boots
[my least favorite foot accessory] by truly convincing myself it
wouldn't snow this year.  and while that tactic comforted me for
a short period of time, it had no control over the inevitable.
now that i've accepted the reality of mother nature, wish me luck
on the slippery sidewalks... because i'm going to need as much
luck [and traction] as i can get.

since i spend most of my time hiking around new york city, i
figured i'd make myself an energizing snack that i can take on
the go.  this trail city mix is so delicious, filling, and
healthyjust what a busy new yorker like myself needs.
speaking of which... gotta run!

before i experience a glitter-induced panic attack, i figured i'd
quickly post about the next round of random junk on my desk.  i
made these three chairs in sculpture at uw madison [obviously
welding is not my forté]. and since my desk felt naked after
moving the butterflies to my wall, i figured the chairs can hang
out for a while.

oh and that's just a cool photo i took while walking to a
cappella rehearsal the other day.

ok time to glitter... wish me and my obsessively clean
personality luck.

...[if you haven't noticed already] is meatball obsession; the
fastest, most exciting way to get a home-cooked, delicious
meatball in new york city.

i came across this adorable restaurant/storefront while in
greenwich village with some members of my a cappella group.  the
clever, overtly homey decor of their outdoor standing area is
what initially lured me in.  next thing i knew, i was buying
meatballs and mingling with owner, paul [who was awesome enough
to gift me a water and a turkey meatball on the house].

not only are these meatballs incredible [i chose chicken], but
the restaurant decor and staff are truly welcoming.  the vintage
lamp, family photos, and vintage tray made me feel like i was
sitting at my italian grandma's kitchen table... and i'm not even
italian.  basically, at meatball obsession the consumer feels at
home, even if their stay is for under ten minutes, which is a
rarity for nyc.

that being said, go to 510 6th ave [at 14th street] if you like
good concepts and need some comfort in a cup.

we all know i've been obsessing over camo since mid 2012 [ie, 1,
2, 3, & 4].  well, my commitment to camo & being thrifty has left
you all with a heart-warming success story:

after wandering the streets of brooklyn pre-art supply run, i
miraculously found this perfect, god's gift to the earth,
unbelievable camo jacket for... wait for it... eight dollars
[yes that's $8].  this instantly led me to develop an emotional
attachment to a garment of clothing.  additionally, i felt [and
still feel] like my two-year-old self who refused to take off
this denim dress for weeks on end [i've been wearing this jacket
on the regs, and it doesn't look like that's going to be changing
anytime soon].

basically, thrifting has become more than a deal, people; it's an
emotional experience that induces extreme nostalgia and arguably
even more shopping satisfaction.

oh and they all lived happily ever after.

the end.

today i've been [and still am] a busy bee.  so far i:

-hung art in order to have room to make more art
-hung those butterflies
-painted/did other art things
-photographed my painting process [and the mess it created on my
-worked on several websites/logos
-started crocheting an infinity scarf

and i still managed to blog in the process.

ps. sorry i'm not sorry for the weird hand pics... i just thought
they were cool, and this is my blog so i can do whatever i want!

because i like staring at nice things through a computer screen,
and zara home allows me to do that.

1.  wear a graphic tee that has a photo of a girl who is
trendier than you are

2.  be a diva and take pictures of yourself wearing said tee

3.  post said pictures on your blog

i've been meaning to talk about my new pets, i mean purses, for a
while now.  i scored these faux fur bags from h&m for under
twenty-five dollars [yes, $25 total].  i'm basically obsessed
even if they are easily mistaken for small animals.  my craving
for fur was for sure fulfilled after this least for
the time being anyway.

NOW YOU SEE IT... it's a pillow.  it's amazing what a little inspiration, an
old t-shirt, and a sewing machine can do [no magic required].

i should be writing this post for right now talking
about the brand be&d, but i couldn't resist displaying their
fucking fabulous handbags on my own blog first. sorry, glick... i
couldn't help it!  posts for swagnet comin' right up.

new year celebrations have officially come to a close.  time to
put away the alcohol and replace it with coffee, because this
girl's got a lot to do [and she's not complaining about it]...
and now she's done talking in third person because that can get
annoying real quick.

1.  2.  3.  4.  5.  6.

my dad's constantly enforced rule that i refrain from saying "i
want" has truly stuck with me throughout my entire life.  that
being said, here are some items i would like to get my hands on
in 2013..... non-hideous winter boots, a relaxed fedora, a modern
trench, more organized clutter for my desk, and the list

okay, who cares at this point?
i want, i want, i want!

just picked up essie's fifth avenue which is appropriately named
after an iconic new york city street and appropriately the proper
color to be wearing while rooting for today's game.
go badgers, on wisconsin, etc etc.
