since pictures are worth a thousand words, i'll just leave you
with this statement:

a massive space with massive amounts of graffiti and a massive
amount of characters [aka the founding fathers of nyc graffiti]
called for a fun night.

write of passage, located at redbull studios [218 w 18th st] is
open to the public thru november 23, 1-5pm.

thanks to a friend who works for redbull [hey mac], i was invited
to attend the opening night of "write of passage" at redbull
studios last weekend.  it just so happened that the debut of this
colossal art space coincided with the debut of my new kelsi
daggers.  these bandit oxford shooties are my choice of k.d.
shoes for fall [yes, i need a pair for every season], and have
reaffirmed my love for the brand.  androgynous, versatile, and
comfortable, these heels kept me feeling as fresh as the paint on
the walls [photos of which will ensue].

sick shoot, right?  it was even better in person.

i had the chance to production assist for the art department on
this british-inspired, rag + bone x shopbop collab back
in august.  when i saw it was finally published, i figured
i'd share with you the fruit of my p.a. loins.

and apparently this shoot was successful because now that i'm
seeing this thing in print, suddenly have the urge to
incorporate little london into my american fall wardrobe...

my asos cart apparently has a lifespan of 60 minutes, and
unfortunately for asos, i cannot make a shopping decision in that
short amount of time [i'm not feeling exceptionally impulsive
tonight].  so here i am organizing my thoughts via photoshop
since my vanishing cart leaves little time for debate.

fall wardrobe 2013 here i [eventually] come...

i've been on quite the health kick lately [besides for eating
dominoes pizza last night... it was free, and i was desperate].
but just because i'm eating more healthy, that does not mean my
recipes will become less interesting.  here is a berry-banana
oatmeal that is rich in flavor, nutrients, and photo ops.
ain't she a beauty?

this "summer by spur of the moments" draft has been sitting in my
to do pile for about two months now [yikes] and is finally being
published now that summer has come to an end.  so... to quickly
catch up; summer was hot, sticky, and really only pleasant when i
was able to get out of the city.  a trip out east long island
with erik [which subsequently involved eating half of a freshly
baked, hot-out-of-the-oven apple crisp pie from briermere farms]
was one of the most memorable moments of the season.

and while i am nostalgic about my first full summer in new york
city, i am ready for the start of a new [and less sweaty] season.
let the autumn blogging commence!

new york city friends: a batch of thin chocolate chip cookies are
in the oven and calling your name.  the extra cookie dough in
my fridge is also up for grabs... you know you want some...

or you could just make them yourself:

feast your eyes [but not your stomachs... i've taken care of
that part] on the feast i so ridiculously prepared
and so ridiculously binged on.  there were absolutely no
restraints while eating the homemade falafel & tzatziki, potato
wedges, and refreshing summer salad i prepared.  and how could
not reward my efforts with two and a half [i guess that extra
half felt necessary at the time] cupcakes to finish the meal?
that being said, i don't foresee myself feasting to this
extent any time soon.

good news: i'm still alive.  bad news: i'm barely breathing after
shlepping about 20lbs of groceries back to my apartment, which
leads me to more good news.  since i haven't updated in a while,
i figured what better way to prove my existence than to cook a
ridiculous meal for two?  here are only half of the ingredients
for tonight's supper.  can you guess what i'm making?

what do you get when you combine a salt craving with a sudden
health kick?  homemade baked potato chips with a fat-free, greek
yogurt-based, french onion dip.

for the chips, just slice a russet potato as thinly as you can
[use a mandelin if your knife skills are nonexistent].  coat each
piece in olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.  lay evenly
on a nonstick cookie sheet [i had to use two].  bake at 400 for
about 30 minutes, flipping halfway through.  take them out of the
oven when they are golden brown and perfectly crispy.

pair them with this french onion dip and watch them vanish right
before your eyes.

note to reader:  make 5 batches of these.  they go fast.
another note to reader:  make these with a friend otherwise you
will. eat. all of it.

my #weekend in #AC with #erikcross was #unforgettable... and

for our last meal, we ventured off the straight and narrow
boardwalk to girasole,  one of my favorite restaurants in
atlantic city.  and although that was was the only environment
suitable for my t3i [sand and cameras don't really mix], you can
view more photos [and hashtags] from our trip #here.

alexandra and erik arrive at sweet revenge, "the nation's only
restaurant with a cupcake, beer, & wine bar."

"this place is so f*cking cute."

"i knew you'd love it."

alexandra orders the "dirty" cupcake with an iced coffee, and
erik chooses to pair the "pure" with a nice, tall hefe weiss.
they eat their dessert [which was unbelievably decadent] and move
onto the best part of the night... opening presents!  alexandra
unwraps a perfectly wrapped present... and then another
present... and then another present... and then another present,

"this is the never-ending supply of gifts.  and this is the best
birthday of my entire life."

alexandra and erik leave sweet revenge arm-in-arm and end the
night with a glamorous subway ride home.

the end.

a note from the playwright:

seriously, my birthday was amazing.  i am [still] so appreciative
of how loved everyone in my life made me feel just for being
born!  i'm sure all of the beautiful gifts i received will
organically make an appearance on spur of the moments in the near
future. special thanks to my parents, my brother, my amazing
friends, and my goy toy i mean boyfriend, erik.  can't wait for
next year.

act II:

alexandra exits the cab at 210 spring street.  she enters
aquagrill where she is greeted by a handsome norwegian man at a
table for two.

"happy birthday"

"thank you... let's eat!"

they proceed to dine like royaltya salmon tartare sampling,
the best cornbread ever, chilled cauliflower and shrimp soup,
fried soft-shell crab, salmon over wild mushrooms and green beans
with a truffle butter sauce, & mediterranean bronzino over gnocci
and spinach with a pesto cream.

"i'm full... let's get dessert!"

alexandra and erik exit the restaurant and begin walking to their
next destination.
