it's the little things in life that make me happy... so when i
woke up this morning to a hot cup of joe and the opportunity to
wear a new, sultry lipstick, you can only imagine how euphoric i
was [and still am].  i love starting the day off right.

...although it's slowly turning into one.  i made blueberry
muffins with a cinnamon streusel topping today.  the whole
procedure was colorful and particularly beautiful, hence my
documentation of the entire process.  the end product was just as
wonderful as each individual step.  anyway... now i'm full.

one of my summer goals has been to cook more [reasons for which i
refrain from doing so are because i do not have a dish washer, my
kitchen is tiny, and there are too many good restaurants in

so tonight i decided to make homemade baked french fries with
salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.  they were
amazing.  then i made two eggs over-easy and toast... not the
most challenging of dishes, but still, i'm making progress.

okay this isn't even a suggestion, it's a command: everyone who
is in madison this summer must go to banzo [the best food cart
ever] and get the harvest pita.

you're welcome.

baked mac and cheese

to further celebrate my [and my friends'] newfound unemployment,
maeve and i hosted a pot-luck dinner with friends and family.
celebrating with the people we love, food, and booze was the
perfect conclusion to an amazing four years.  some of the dishes
included greek cucumber rolls, chili, baked mac and cheese, and
sandwiches [hundreds of sandwiches].

please, come eat our left-overs.

hey art

may the quarter-life crisis begin...i am officially a college
graduate.  the festivities began the night before, when i baked
my [almost] famous carrot cake.  then my lovely parents came to
town to watch me walk across the stage to receive my diploma
[carrying case] the next morning.

cudos to my mom for noticing and photographing art by dale
chihuly, an unbelievable glass blower whose
chandeliers/sculptures can be found all across the nation
[including wisconsin].

 here is my art:

here is my statement:

it is important for me to make sure that the art i produce is
meaningful to me in some way while simultaneously being
aesthetically pleasing and elegant.  each painting is extremely
personal, whether it is evoking my emotions or just my personal
taste.  and while the viewer might not know what exactly
influences my work, he/she can still draw conclusions or extract
a narrative from what i have produced.  enjoy!

here are some detail shots:

jackie helping me

i have been slacking on pretty much everything in my life lately
[particularly because i am graduating college in two days, and it
has been absolutely gorgeous outside].  but despite my week-or-so
hiatus, i am here and ready to share my latest endeavors.

i am very excited about what is pictured above--a show curated by
jacqueline kursel at the project lodge on east johnson.  my
"untitled installation" made the cut, and we will be celebrating
all of this lovely art on saturday may 26th [that's an open

surprise, surprise; i found a way to have my cake and eat it too.
this bag is made from recycled fox fur [from a vintage fur coat]
and was completely in my budget.  the strap was too dainty for my
taste, so i ran to vintage emporium and found the perfect
necklace to disassemble and convert into bag hardware.

now i have a custom fur bag that leaves my conscience guilt-free
and my bank account [semi] full.

my furry little heart has desired a fur bag for quite some time,
but challenges of money and ethics have stood in my way.
however, being the crafty little blogger that i am, i found a way
to resolve this conflict without feeling conflicted.  more to
come on that later.  for now, feel free to drool over these
glamorous purses.

photos by cara hunt

although it took longer than expected, i have finally completed
the project which began here.  and what better way to showcase my
new creations than with a photo-shoot at my second home
[humanities]?  gotta love natural sunlight mixed with concrete
architecture and freshly sewn shirts.

a week of celebrating the existence of a street called mifflin
has put a damper on my blogging excursions.  however, i am fully
recovered and back in the game.

sarah and i were both having bland days, and we felt the need to
improve our boring lives by improving a pair of boring shorts.
vintage shorts+black dye provided us with an immediate pick-me

this simple, fast project relieved both sarah and me of our
creative dry spells and resulted in a wonderful wardrobe

here is my finished product:
